Terms & Conditions
(Updated October 2025)By booking or attending a class, workshop, event, or using our facilities, you agree to the following terms.
1. Bookings & Payments
All bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking. Payments made via our website are processed securely through Stripe. We also accept BACS transfer for memberships or direct arrangements.
Your place is only confirmed once payment has been received. Bookings are non-refundable unless otherwise stated below.
2. Cancellations & Refunds
Classes, tasters & workshops:
- Cancellations more than 14 days before the start date will be refunded in full.
- Cancellations between 7–14 days before can be transferred to a future session (subject to availability), but no refund will be offered.
- Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- If Townhouse Ceramics needs to cancel or reschedule, you will be offered either a full refund or an alternative date.
Memberships:
Membership cancellations require one month’s notice in writing.
3. Studio Use, Materials & Firing
- Only clays and glazes supplied or approved by Townhouse Ceramics may be used.
- Courses: Firing is included up to a fair-use allowance (details provided at the start of each course).
- Memberships: Include a defined monthly kiln allowance, measured by volume. Additional firing is charged by weight.
- Finished work must be collected within one month of firing unless otherwise agreed. Uncollected work may be disposed of.
- While every care is taken, ceramics is an unpredictable process. Townhouse Ceramics cannot be held responsible for technical failures, firing faults, or accidental breakages.
4. Health & Safety
Pottery involves risks including sharp tools, dust, chemicals, and hot equipment. You participate at your own risk and must follow all safety guidance given.
- Covered shoes must be worn in the studio.
- Long hair should be tied back for wheel work.
- Eating and drinking are not permitted in making areas.
- Only those who have received appropriate instruction may use kilns or mix glazes.
- Please read and follow the Townhouse Ceramics Health & Safety Policy displayed in the studio and on our website.
5. Studio Clean-Up
The last 15 minutes of all classes is dedicated to cleaning. This includes gathering tools, wiping tables, cleaning wheels, floors, and sinks.
Townhouse is a communal studio, and its cleanliness depends on everyone doing their part. Please leave your space cleaner than you found it.
6. Behaviour & Conduct
Please treat fellow members, tutors, and the space with respect. Unsafe or disruptive behaviour may result in removal without refund.
Townhouse Ceramics is an inclusive, respectful environment — we expect everyone to contribute to that.
7. Photography & Promotion
We may take photographs of classes, workshops, and events for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to appear in images, please inform a member of the Townhouse team at the start of your session.
8. Insurance & Liability
- Townhouse Ceramics maintains public liability insurance covering members, freelancers, and visitors while on the premises.
- Freelance tutors are required to hold their own public liability or professional indemnity insurance and provide proof of cover on request.
- Participation in classes, workshops, and studio activities is at your own risk.
- Townhouse Ceramics cannot accept responsibility for injury, loss, or damage arising from misuse of equipment, failure to follow safety instructions, or unforeseen firing outcomes.
- We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings left in the studio.
9. Parking & Access
- Parking in Yew Tree Place is strictly prohibited.
- This policy exists out of respect for our neighbours. If you are found to be parking there, you will be asked to leave immediately to move your vehicle.
- If driving, please use nearby public car parks and avoid blocking driveways or access routes when dropping off or collecting work.
